Упражнение 1.

Past Continuous - одно из прошедших времён английского языка. Оно используется для обозначения действия, происходившего в конкретный момент в прошлом или в определённый промежуток времени в прошлом. Также есть случай контрастного использования данного времени, а именно противопоставление Past Continuous другому прошедшему времени . Однако, это вопрос отдельный и рассматривать его следует в отдельной статье и соответственно в отдельном видеоуроке.

Past Continuous образуется по образу и подобию Present Continuous, за одним исключением. Поскольку это время прошедшее, то и форма глагола to be должна быть прошедшей — was/were . Таким образом, в утвердительных предложениях в начало предложения ставится подлежащее, затем was/were (выбор зависит от подлежащего - I (Я) / He (Он / She (Она) / It (Оно) — was, You (Ты, Вы / We (Мы) / They (Они) — were), затем смысловой глагол с ing-овым окончание.

II. Правописание окончания —ing

Если глагол оканчивается на сочетание гласный + согласный , то конечная буква удваивается (run - runn ing ); если оканчивается на несколько согласных подряд, то добавляется только - ing (wash - washing, watch - watching ); если глагол оканчивается на букву e , то она заменяется на ing (hide - hiding ), если оканчивается на y , добавляется окончание —ing . Существуют исключения: to lie, to die, to tie (лгать/лежать, умирать, завязывать).

III. Вопросительные и отрицательные формы

Для образования отрицательной формы после формы was/were добавляют частицу not (не). Таким образом получаем следующее: He was not (wasn’t) playing the guitar yesterday at 5 (Он не играл на гитаре вчера в 5). Или We were not (weren’t) looking for you yesterday in the evening (Вчера вечером мы тебя не искали). Существуют сокращенные формы was not и were not — wasn’t и weren’t соответственно.

Для образования вопросительной формы подлежащее и форма was/were меняются местами. Таким образом вопрос выглядит следующим образом: Was he playing the guitar yesterday at 5? (Он играл на гитаре вчера в 5?) Were you looking for me yesterday in the evening? (Вы искали меня вчера вечером?)

IV. Слова — подсказки прошедшего длительного времени

Слов — подсказок как таковых в этом времени выделить сложно. Сюда относятся любые отсылки к конкретному периоду или эпизоду в прошлом времени. Например yesterday at 2 o’clock, yesterday from 3 till 5, 2 days ago all morning, whole day (весь день) и т.д. Также указанием на конкретный момент может служить контекст:

Тренировка грамматики: Past Simple vs Past Continuous. Упражнения на закрепление.

Предлагаю Вашему вниманию ряд упражнений на совершенствование грамматических навыков учащихся по теме "Прошедшее простое и прошедшее продолженное время". Данная разработка может быть фрагментально включена в ход урока, домашнее задание или промежуточный срез по теме.
Цели: формирование грамматических навыков и умений в процессе работы над темой; развитие навыков сопоставления и сравнения с имеющимися аналогами и умения пользоваться изученной грамматикой.

Упражнение 1. Раскройте скобки, поставив глаголы в фоpму Past Continuous.
While I ___________ (to copy) the exercise, my friends __________ (to describe) a picture. When we came in, the children __________ (to clean) their desks. We met her at the bus stop. Как уже говорилось, времена Present Continuous и Past Continuous относятся к одной группе и схожи по построению.

Упражнение 1. Present Continuous и Past be.

СЛУЧАЙ I. Вспомните! Past Continuous употребляется для выражения длительного действия (процесса), которое происходило в определенный момент времени в прошлом.

Упражнение 2. Заполните пропуски глаголом в Past Continuous, используя правильную форму глагола be.

The Past Continuous Tense – прошедшее длительное время глагола часто путают с прошедшем простым временем (The Past Simple Tense ). Давайте разберемся, чем отличаются эти времена друг от друга , для начала по построению. Для этого выполните упражнение 4.

Упражнение 4. Заполните пропуски глаголом в Past Simple и Past Continuous, используя правильную форму глагола be.

Выполните упражнения ниже, чтобы отработать второй случай употребления Past Continuous.

СЛУЧАЙ II. Вспомните! Past Continuous употребляется для выражения длительного действия (процесса) на фоне которого произошло краткое действие. Краткое действие (в Past Simple) произошло в определенный момент времени в прошлом.

Упражнение 5. Заполните пропуски глаголом в Past Continuous и переведите предложения.

When I went out into the garden, the sun ______(to shine).
I __________(to eat) ice cream when you met me in the park yesterday.

СЛУЧАЙ III. Вспомните! Past Continuous употребляется для выражения двух длительных действий (процессов), протекающих одновременно в определенный момент времени в прошлом.

Упражнение 10. Составьте предложения по картинкам .

ОБРАЗЕЦ. While we were talking to our friend, he was painting the fence.

Упражнение 11. Составьте предложения по образцу, используя Past Simple или Past Continuous .
